Aids Concern aims to raise awareness about Aids in Hong Kong through outreach and prevention programs. Aids-related services are also provided for those in need, regardless of age, gender, race or nationality. Volunteers always needed to take part in special events, help with office work and to operate the daily, volunteer-run helpline.

This animal-rights organization works with governments and local populations to help abused animals. Its best-known project is probably China Bear Rescue, which receives world-wide media attention for its efforts to rescue moon bears from mainland bile farms. Local program Dr Dog brings 300 animal therapy dogs into Hong Kong hospitals and schools (some children find it easier to read to a dog than an adult). Friends Or Food works to end the eating of dogs and cats in China, while Professor Paws educates the young on the values of caring for and respecting animals. Project Asia addresses regional issues, such as live wild animal markets and the use of animals in traditional medicine. Volunteers and donations always welcome.

Formerly known as Save the Children Fund, CYLF seeks to achieve long-lasting benefits for young people in Hong Kong and the mainland by working with children from disadvantaged families. It runs numerous programs to raise awareness of children's welfare in the region and beyond. Its Pay It Forward program provides year-round developmental activities, including multi-intelligence classes, field trips, adventure camps, career development workshops and gatherings.

This organization has a child-sponsorship program that aims to save children abandoned owing to poverty and ignorance in Qinghai Province, one of the remotest and poorest regions of China, and to help re-integrate them into society. It also runs a door-to-door collection of used clothes that are redistributed to orphans and the elderly, or resold to support the group's charitable services in the region.
